After escaping from prison, Sam encounters Clydie, a young widow, and her two small children who are being harassed by an evil land developer. Sam’s efforts to protect Clydie and her children only lead to increased pressure from the land developer and his hired goons. Nowhere to Run wants to be a lot of things: an action movie, a lighthearted comedy and a tender romance. Unfortunately, it never quite nails the tone of any of these things. The cast, at least, is great. JCVD plays Sam, Rosanna Arquette plays Clydie, Kieran Culkin plays Clydie’s son Mookie and Joss Ackland knocks it out of the park as Franklin Hale, the diabolical land developer. While Nowhere to Run isn’t an outright bad movie, it never really coheres into anything particularly good either.
