The is probably one of the most pretentious albums ever made by a rock band, and I say that as a fan of Sonic Youth. Sure, it's got a lot of great songs, but does it need to be a double album? Does it need "Revolution 9?" According to Wikipedia, the most reliable source on the web, this album is "lyrically sophisticated." Yeah, sure, "I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping." The problem is when you believe too much in your own stardom, you forget about simple things such as revision and cutting the fat.
