The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (recent film)

I've always been a fan of the books. I even loved the old British TV series that they did based on the book. I was hesitant going in to the newer movie. But it is great. They certainly held true to many of Adams' ideas and themes. The movie was great and I loved it. It looks great, it's funny, it's touching, it touches on some important themes Adams' put forth in his books and whatnot. I'd give it 90%.

I don't know. I feel like they botched a bunch of major jokes, and made it too slapsticky. I'd give it about a 54%.

I agree that many jokes were left out, but it is a movie and it has a very finite time to fit things in. They changed quite a bit about it (though if you watch the old UK version, it's surprisingly similar (except for the Doctor Who-esque special effects). I thought it was well done- and what's wrong with slapstik?

Also, Adams was involved in the process before he died. The "point of view gun" was never in the books or the old movie. But Adams actually came up with that. It's easier if you can watch it without thinking of the original or the books. I still think it's an extremely well done movie and very good looking and is still hilarious.

No way should this get 90%, but Mos Def rocks my world. I went to see him with Talib Kwali and it was seriously the most fun show I have ever been to. Way more fun than indie rock shows.
