The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

#42 on Glenn's Top 100 Movie List

Simply one of the most terrifying movies of all time. And despite the title and reputation, it isn't especially gory. That's the thing with great horror; it can make you remember movies as being much more graphic than they were with just the right atmosphere. Also, ambient music is generally more terrifying than hard rock in your face type stuff, and long shots are scarier than sudden inexplicable cuts or inserts of a baby's crying face. You know what a great horror movie made in the 2000s is? The Descent. That movie is fantastic, and it follows the tradition of old horror movies. I'm sorry that this entry is basically me complaining about every movie made nowadays. I sound like a crotchety old man. Anyway, see this movie but absolutely never watch the remake. It sucks so bad.

RATING: 92%

The SCARIEST part of this movie? That it takes place in Texas! Middle-of-nowhere Texas! Inbred freaks will chop you up and wear your face! RUN, Dobie Paisano, RUN!!!

You know what would be a great idea? Smoking a bunch of pot and then watching this movie.
Oh wait, that would be a TERRIBLE idea!
And, for the record, I so told them so.

I also told them that was a bad idea. Remember when they had to go outside and cry because they were freaked out? I mean, what did they think smoking pot and watching this movie would do?

Believe it or not, Last House on the Left creeped me out more than this movie. Who knew that there could be something creepier than an inbred wielding a chainsaw? Thank you, Wes Craven.

Also, it's probably not a good a idea to smoke a bunch of pot while watching Last House either. Just sayin'.
