Dallas Stars Fans

I think the point of going to a hockey game is to watch your team play, not necessarily to watch them win (especially when they're playing the San Jose Sharks, who are the top rated team in the league right now.) When 25% of the fans leave before the 3rd period even starts, and 50% with 12+ minutes left in the game, you have to wonder why a city bothers having a hockey team at all, except, perhaps, as one more feather in its moneyed 10 gallon hat. Sportsmanship is an ethos that extends to the spectators of a sport, especially when there are children watching. These Dallas Stars "fans" should be ashamed of themselves.

RATING: 50%--the 50% who stayed until the game was finished.

No one here cares about hockey. Write more posts about dildos and comic books.

Glenn, Sean and I went to the Aeros game last night. All 1,000 people stayed until they lost with 1 minute left in OT.

I've never been to a NHL game, but I'm not surprised Dallas fans left early. They're a fairweather bunch.

Nah, they're a bunch of twats when the sun is shining too.

wats a ethos?

Will you get off the "Dallas sucks" shit? It's too easy.
And I'm not sure I'd call Dallas fans fairweather. Both the Mavs and Cowboys have records for sellouts, despite having sucked it up in recent years.

Bit defensive are we? I personally haven't lived here long enough to judge (which obviously doesn't stop me from talking all kinds of shit), but I think it might have more to do with which sport you're talking about. I think it's a climate thing--I bet Detroit fans stay for the whole game.

I couldn't agree more. Even cities with multiple storied sports teams have A team. This is only a theory, but I think it holds true:

Chicago: Blackhawks, White Sox, Cubs, Bears, Bulls
I'd say the Cubs (debatable).

Detroit: Red Wings, Lions, Tigers, Pistons
I'd say Red Wings.

Boston is a toughie, since they finally have a football team, but I'd still say Red Sox.

...and for Dallas, despite the Stars Cup win, will always play second-fiddle.

You guys sound like a bunch of little boys that just learned some dirty words so you decided to use them to antagonize some sports fans. Well, isn't that special!!!!!
If you don't know anything of what you speak then shut up and go bother someone else's blog. FYI until the Wings won the cup last season, they could NOT get people to come to the games. Dallas does have a lot of fair weather fans and that is their problem. Our problem is to ignore them and recruit new fans. We have had either a sellout or close to a sellout for all reqular season games. Regardless of how well the team plays, they are still playing and the fans make a lot of difference to them. I personally was more irate at the boos coming from the crowd than for the ones that left. That is just plain dumb and more like an Eastern mentality.

While I am at it, another thing I REALLY HATE is something you boys probably do. I hate to be on a row of beer drinkers that think they have to have a beer ever ten minutes and, of course what follows, they have to run to the bathroom. This can't be done in one step and you are constantly having to move, stand up or get your toes stepped on at least 20 to 25 times a game. I paid money to see the game and I would assume the beer drinkers did too. Those tickets aren't cheap and neither is the beer. Cut back on the beer and bathroom breaks, stay in your seat and watch the game. Isn't that what you came for?

I hate anonymous comments.

I like to bring like 20 beer to my seat, spilling them on all the people I have to walk past. I don't even take bathroom breaks, I just sit in my seat and piss my pants--it keeps me warm. I boo my team and the other team, I boo the home fans, the away fans, I boo their moms. I don't even watch the game, I watch One Tree Hill on my portable DVD player.

I don't know what you mean by "eastern mentality," though. Are you insinuating that I'm some kind of gay pothead?

I think I have to disagree that climate has anything to do with the fans other than attendance. Sure, I imagine the attendance for hockey fans up North is higher than the South, but I don't think it accounts for much else.

In fact, I'd actually assume that fans in Southern cities might be more hardcore, because while there are less, they are more likely to be avid fans, rather than casual. There weren't many people at the Aeros game, but no one left early and many people were decked out in gear. I could only guess that's because more hardcore hockey fans are going to the games.

And Dallas does suck. It's why I'm a Cowboys fan.

I'd estimate that the American Airlines center was filled to about 85-90% capacity, so the issue isn't attendance. Maybe they all had to pee from all the beer they drank, or maybe traffic is just really horrible downtown after the game. I'm surprised they didn't stick around just to see the Sharks play--they have a phenomenal team this year.

Aww looks like the unpaid Star interns are getting weepy. I'm sorry that the bathrooms are always so crowded in the American Airlines center that you can't jerk off in peace.

Just kidding I love the Dallas Star interns they are great in bed.
