Abaeté Fall 2009 Collection

It's about time that I added something to the V3 component of R3, so I've decided to review a few shows from fashion week. (Maybe someone with strong feelings about the Betsy Johnson show will follow suit, nudge, nudge.) On first look, I found the Abaeté show to be well crafted but a little boring, but looking at it again I just had the realization that it is about 76% the embodiment of my own personal style. Occasionally funky, but very clean and put together (sometimes to a fault), and with lots of short skirts. (I dress this way because I am an artist masquerading as a lawyer. And because I like short skirts.) My favorite piece is the dress over there on the left, which is completely my style because the lines are a little crazy, but it is devoid of color (I wear a LOT of grey.)

View the entire show here.

Oh man Laurie. I feel like I can't really help you here. Did Betsey even get a show? Last I heard, EvilParentCompany wasn't going to give them a show, but maybe that changed. Her parent company wants to paint her showroom white! WHITE!! Because nothing says Betsey Johnson like white walls.

Other than that, I try to avoid fashion week. Stick ladies clogging up Bryant Park. Clothes I will never buy. Like with shoes... I just can't get it up for fashion.

HANDBAGS, however, I can get behind.

Then what on earth is your facebook status all about?

It is about Betsey Johnson, but the only reason she's on my radar is because my godmom works with her (or did, before BJ sold the company & made herself scarce). The new owners are mucking it up and want to turn it into a kind of, quote, JUICY COUTURE. Terrible.

And I always got free stuff from their sample sales so my wardrobe consists of two pairs of jeans, and a million crazy dresses. I am grateful to Betsey but know zilch about fashion in general.

Oh and how I see "Betsey's" awful new stuff is on the daily emails I get from that buy-cheaper-stuff blast list. So every morning it's there, depressing me.

On the other hand I’ve never had much of a problem getting it up for stick ladies, shoes, or clothes in general. Handbags not so much, might have something to do with being a guy, then again it may not since I appear to have been the one black man in my Brooklyn neighborhood who figured it would be a bright idea to wear Capri pants. You really can’t pay for the kind of abuse that was heaped upon me for that indiscretion. Anyways no complaints with Abaete it was satisfactory enough though I am a fan of color. On the other hand I did love Jill Stuart’s Fall collection, loved the hats, and there was a white lavender flowered short dress paired with black boots that should meet with your approval Laur.

Everyone be nice to Dirk. He is a real person and I'd like to continue being friends with him.

I haven't seen Jill Stuart yet, but you better believe that will be the next one I check out. I'm so happy that someone appreciates my love of fashion.

Can I have the capri pants if you aren't using them anymore? I will also accept any of your old shoes.

What have we come to as a blog when Laurie has to beg us to be nice to her friend who posts?

Welcome Dirk!

Wait, who the fuck is Dirk?

Just kidding, of course. We're that blog that runs everyone off because we'd hate to have anyone really read it.

I just came back from Walmart. They already have a knockoff of this very dress on their racks. Slightly different shade of gray but everything else looked pretty much the same. And I must say it looked very attractive.

Oh, and IMHO this dress will only look good on girls with big tits.

And I'm thinking that Chris would look pretty good in it too. That is if he is a cross dresser-- and I'm not suggesting that he his. So don't have a fit.
