The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips

I'll be the first to admit that I don't exactly have my finger on the pulse of contemporary music, but it always kind of astonished me that the band that did the song "She Don't Use Jelly" ended up being an incredible musical force just a few years later. The Soft Bulletin, while not being as amazing as Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots, is a very complex album, both in instrumentation and structure. Don't worry, though, this ain't Washing Machine; it doesn't sacrifice any enjoyability for art (disclaimer: I like Washing Machine). My only regret is that the lyrics are terrible, for example "When you got that spider bite on your hand/I was worried we might have to break up the band." Oh well, one chicken bone doesn't ruin the delicious apple pie I guess.

RATING: 73%

PS - Sorry no Flaming Lips videos are on Youtube for some reason.

I thought that line was decent--goofy sincere and autobiographical. How often do you hear lyrics in second person from one band member to another?

And it rhymes.

Yeah, lyrics like “I know a girl who reminds me of Cher/She’s always changing the color of her hair” are dippy to the extreme. But maybe that’s why they stick with you long after you’ve forgotten the title of the song that they’re from.

How is it that I don't have this album?

I beg to differ. "She Don't Use Jelly" should have given you every evidence that The Flaming Lips would end up being "an incredible force just a few years later."

Ooh, ooh! Someone incorrectly identified the second person and I missed it!

Yeah, it's first person. But it's still lyrically unusual.

Is your grammar dick hard right now?

It was. I lost it.

I totally support that! Continue that way!

The English Football League kicked off with its first round of matches on September 8 1888. Conceived 6 months earlier in Anderton’s hotel, Fleet Street, London twelve teams from the midlands and north began their quest to be crowned the nation’s first champions.

However, these decades were also the darkest times for English football. Hooliganism inside and outside the ground was rife, racism on the terraces was still prevalent and the three disasters at Bradford, Heysel and Hillsborough meant that both attendances and sponsorship levels were dwindling. online bet Over the following several years the competition expanded and became less and less associated with the trade fairs. However, it wasn’t until the 1971/72 season that the competition was renamed the UEFA Cup.

The Liverpool club was ultimately to win five Euro Cups, but events surrounding their final championship game resulted in the exclusion of English clubs from the Cup for the next five years. This fateful game, played between Liverpool and the Italian Juventus club in 1985, saw the deaths of 39 fans after an altercation in the stands led to the collapse of one of the stadiums walls.

Overall, 42 teams have competed in the Premier League. Of the original signatories, seven have never been relegated and ten are participating in the Premier League this season, the other 24 are competing in various levels of the Football League, and two never joined the Premier League due to relegation at the end of the last season of the old First Division. There are currently 20 teams playing a 38 game schedule each season.

I know this is spam, but it's so weird I approved it anyway. Also, that spider bite line is the best on the whole album.
