What If... used to be a comic series published by Marvel in which various elements of comic history would be rearranged, like "What If Punisher Had Killed Daredevil," or "What If Spider-man Had Joined The Fantastic Four." It was basically an excuse to kill heroes in gruesome ways. As a kid, I bought the second volume of this comic for a while, the one published in the early 90s. In the 13 or 14 issues I have, Dr. Doom shows up in 9 of them. But I guess that was ok because Dr. Doom is awesome. Anyway, to answer all of the "What If" questions posed in every issue of this book: "The comics wouldn't have sold as well the end."RATING: 59%

There are a couple of truly great "What If..." type stories. Generally speaking, though, they were all published by DC.
Still liked it, though.
There were a couple of real gems in the 'What If...' line, but some real dogs too.
'What If Punisher Killed Everyone' comes immediately to mind in the dog category.
Everyone always all died, and the art was either really stylized or really shitty--I can't quite remember. The one about Mr. Fantastic's and Sue Storm's baby was pretty tight, although I think the Fantastic Four generally speaking are far too dorky and gay to give birth to a messianic type figure.
