Ok, so we've all heard how terrible the plot of this movie is, but I have to say that I think we can put all of that aside and just enjoy the most amazing visual spectacle of a movie that I've seen in years, if not ever. Anyway, some space cats live on a planet and then humans come along to move them away from some valuable things. Also the space cats wear feathers in their hair and shoot bow and arrows GET IT??? I swear though if you see it in 3d you won't care about how dumb any of that sounds.

I saw some furry porn before and it made me feel weird.

Well, the special effects are much better in this furry porn than in most of your average furry porn videos.

Meh. I thought it was hella boring. (Probably because I have seen that movie in at least a dozen different incarnations.) But then again, I didn't see it in 3D so what the hell do I know.

After reading all the scathing comments about this movie I'm beginning to wonder if anyone ever goes to the movies to have a good time and be entertained anymore.

How can I ever have a good time again in a world where 5 golden retriever puppies died during the making of the first Snow Buddies?

More seriously, I think schlock ought to be roundly criticized as such. 2012, for example, was entertaining enough, but it was a piece of shit in almost every way a movie can be one. If people don't say so, they'll keep making more movies like it.

I suppose one man's schlock is another man's well spent twelve dollars on a Saturday night.

All I know is . . . there seem to be more unhappy moviegoers out there now than ever before. A sad observation when alien adventures of my childhood were synonymous with Mac and Me and Flight of the Navigator. Progress is a bitch.

To be fair, the plot of Avatar is old, but it's not as "terrible" as everybody makes it out to be. It's an amazing spectacle, and well worth whatever outrageous sum your local theater is charging to watch it in 3D.

"It's an amazing spectacle"--you obviously haven't been playing the latest in video/computer games recently. The only thing missing was the "Game Over" end screen.

"Pandorum" was a much better recent sci-fi/horror/invading another planet to save Earth film.

IJ, I thought "2012" was a lame rip-off of the "Dukes of Hazzard" TV series. There was a limo jump over a chasm, a Winnebago jump over a chasm, and a Bently jump over a chasm. Very old, very fast. Oh, and I loved all the sky scrapers around Santa Monica airport. I lived there for several years and didn't see any that tall--a few in the downtown and Century City areas, but Santa Monica/Venice Beach???? Don't even get me started on Lloyd Dobler as an action hero. I'd buy Woody as one though after seeing some of his action flicks and pouring drinks behind that bar in Boston.

I'm a happy movie-goer (probably because I generally pick movies that I think I will like) but I didn't like this movie. I can appreciate the craft of it but I was bored out of my mind. The opening of the movie was indeed breathtaking but beyond the first third of the movie I was, as Laurie said, terribly bored. (I don't know that I minded the plot - it wasn't, as Glenn said, terribly original but it was more than adequate...though, maybe it's just me, but didn't the plot seem to be aping some elements from other Cameron films? I remember thinking of some parallels from Aliens especially.)

Thanks for reminding me of Flight of the Navigator, Matt. I've got to go look for that now. That and The Last Starfighter were movies I wore out on VHS as a kid.

The new "Darkvoid" game looks just as impressive and it's a video/computer game.

Why spend the money when you can just stay in and watch Armageddon on DVD?
