Pet Sounds
Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys is the greatest album ever made. Period. It's inventive, it evokes some power emotions, from wistful romance to heartbreak and it's the best sounding and put together record ever done. No wonder Brian Wilson went batshit after releasing this album- it can't be topped. I dislike almost everything The Beach Boys ever did (except for the unreleased Smile album), but this album is jaw-droppingly amazing. 100%

Pet Sounds rules. I can take or leave the Beach Boys, except this stands up against the best albums ever made by anybody.
I am obviously in total agreement with you. Nothing else ever made has surpassed it.
Somebody told me the other day that the Beatles made St. Pepper because they were trying to make an album better than Pet Sounds because they thought it was great and they couldn't top it. So even tho I have never actually heard this, if the Beatles thought it was great then it probably was.
I read that about the Beatles, too. I like Pet Sounds, but it's just not one of my favorite albums. I definitely wouldn't score it higher than anything else ever rated on this site. But I guess each of our ratings are our own.
