A Month of Boring Things - Day Eighteen: The Turner Diaries

If you have to write a novel about the need for Aryans to destroy all other races and overthrow the federal government, can you at least give it a name that doesn't sound like a terrible WB sitcom?

Read it here, folks!

Well, at least it will increase our readership if the FBI starts monitoring this site.

Right and left wing extremists are so paranoid. I think it's funny that they're both afraid of the government, whom the right thinks is going to outlaw freedom, and the left thinks is going to (get this) outlaw freedom. I have a leftist friend who's active in Canadian politics and he spent a couple of weeks in the psych ward after he thought the police (at the instigation of politicians whose strings are pulled by multinational corporations) put a wiretap in his bicycle. I have a libertarian friend in Texas who swears that charter schools were "designed" to fail from day one in order to facilitate state control of education, and that Obama is a closet Marxist who's just biding his time before he outlaws private health insurance altogether.

Only two tags? I'm so disappointed, Andrew.

Check out some of the other links at SolarGeneral.com. These dudes are fucking crazy.

I wonder if pseudoscientists in the Intelligent Design and White Power movements actually think they're doing real work, or if they know full well that virtually all of their special claims are grossly and demonstrably false.

Well, Laurie. You've only known me for a year. Plenty of disappointment to come, dear lass.

Has anyone seen Inglorious Basterds?

@I.J.
My guess is they know what they're doing. But isn't the little blond girl in their banner sooo cute?

Also, why this guy chose MacDonald as his penname is beyond me. Doesn't he know Catholics are subhuman cultists?

Apparently no one told him that the Celts were basically the Navajos of the British Isles. I think Lovecraft described us as sentimental, superstitious, prone to irrationality, and generally inferior to the Nordic race.

Even if that's 75% true, we did manage to sack Rome.

We just saw it, Andrew.

and speaking of the CW, i can't wait (sincerely!) to see The Vampire Diaries show. i was all over those books when i was 12. AND it stars the teen mom from Degrassi. I'm having fun getting excited about it before I watch and it's inevitably a POS.

Loco,
I have certain reservations about the movie (outside of my belief that Quentin has the brain of a fifteen year old--boobies and blood and guns and cool shit). How was it?

Loud and dumb but sometimes almost genius. Nowhere near as intolerable as Death Proof.
