Worst Cooks in America

I do not get cable because I am poor and busy and well, Hulu. However, I plugged my tv into the wall and so the network stations and, mysteriously, the Food Network come through my tv. I don't understand it, but I'll take it. Anyway, the Worst Chef in America is the Food Network's newest addition and damned if it isn't the best show on the whole damn network! (Damn damn damn) The premise of the show is that a whole bunch of the most delightful, endearing, and determined terrible cooks you've ever seen are put in a competition to learn to cook. The only downside is that I love all the contestants so much that I want them all to win. Well done, Food Network. (Much better than this shit.)

I saw promos for this show and thought it looked pretty kickass.

Is there anything better than Schadenfreude?

Well, yes.

Great show. Kind of painful to see how upset the contestants get sometimes, though. I agree with you, Laurie: I wish they all could win.

So many shows I love are on the Food Network:
Ace of Cakes
Good Eats
Next Iron Chef/Next Food Network Star
Unwrapped (cheesy, but cool)
The Best Thing I Ever Ate
Will Work For Food
Chopped
FN Challenge (more cake stuff)

Sandra Lee sucks, as do Aaron McCargo, Jr. and the Barefoot Contessa.

Anonymous' shitty non-links used to be kinda avant-garde funny, but either he or my body's lack of nicotine is really getting on my nerves. I think we should start deleting this shit when it shows up.

By the bye, there sure are lot of shows about food these days. Had a pretty good salad with spinach, strawberries, goat cheese, walnuts and balsamic tonight. Just sayin.

@Tim I am so with you on the Food Network shows. Tho I do love watching Sandra Lee, in order to hate her and marvel at how utterly disgusting her food looks (and no doubt tastes, as well).

I also don't dislike the Barefoot Contessa, but mostly because I want to eat everything she makes. Tho I do admit it is really corny/lame.

All I do is read gossip sites all day long and I guess the Barefoot Contessa's son is some crazy prep schooler who does all sorts of bad rich-kid things.

And Laurie, I may have been working on my thesis for too long, but I have to say that "I do not get cable because I am poor and busy and well, Hulu" is a gorgeous sentence.

Have you heard of Man vs Food? I saw it the other day and thought it was horrible. It appeared to be an eating contest and the man was sweating and crying and it was just disgusting. When I read about it, though, it sounds like it ought to be a decent show.

Robyn I totally agree with you. I love a good eating challenge, but that guy ruins it. He seems like such a dick, and his showmanship is totally painful to watch. Who needs to drink ELEVEN milkshakes? Ick.

I'll still watch it, though.

I tried to watch again last night. It was a LIVE show. I couldn't do it. So much noise. I may have to use hulu.com. I think laurie will approve.
